On this day, 10th October in 1881 the beautiful Savoy Theatre opened. It originally became home to Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operas with widespread attention and eventually musicals to which it still holds today.
Its individuality is based on an Italian Renaissance ceiling, which was completely new for London theatres at that time.
Adjoined to the infamous Savoy Hotel, which is a personal deco favourite of mine, They compliment each other beautifully.
Life is always better at The Savoy! And with the winter moments approaching I had a Hepburn moment with my new 1940’s coat. It is a tribute to all that have loved the Savoy, watched wonderous shows in the Theatre and been captivated by the glamourous allure and beauty that the hotel beholds.
Have a lovely week ;)))
